King admits he has given the horse extra time to prove his fitness following his problem at Aintree and although he isn’t expecting too much early on, is confident he will be back to top form in the spring for another run in the race he finished second to Triolo D’Alene in in 2012.
“Walkon ran well for a long way at Aintree, but he took the tendon off his hock, so we have had to be patient,” the trainer told his official website. “He doesn’t get extreme distances, but he does love the challenge of the big Aintree fences, so, long term, it would be nice to have another crack at the Topham Trophy, in which he finished second a couple of seasons ago.
