Coral Welsh Grand National: Evan Williams' One In A Milan all set for tilt at glory at Chepstow

One In A Milan is sure to be a favourite with punters though Williams is yet to decide who will partner his charge

One In A Milan makes his way to post at Chepstow in November

There would be no more popular winner of Saturday's Coral Welsh Grand National at Chepstow than Evan Williams' One In A Milan.
Vale of Glamorgan handler Williams has had the biggest event in Welsh racing in mind for the last year or so and hopes a long-term plan will pay off at the Monmouthshire course on December 27.
One In A Milan has previous in the Chepstow showpiece.
The nine-year-old ran a fine race to finish fourth behind Mountainous 12 months ago on what was only his sixth ever run over fences.
That promising performance meant a repeat attempt was always going to be on the cards and with the race now just days away, another fine run is expected.
But with the weights for the handicap yet to be decided, Williams is still pondering as to who will pilot his charge.
"The weights will go up, we've yet to decide who will ride him,” said the Llancarfan Farm trainer.
“We might claim off him. We'll see closer to the day. This has been his target since the Grand National."
With a tough three mile five furlong trip on testing ground expected, any decision to claim seems a no-brainer.
Williams has plenty of talented young jockeys at his disposal, Conor Ring partnering One In A Milan on his seasonal reappearance at Chepstow in November.

Coral Welsh Grand National favourite Shotgun Paddy heads the weights for the big race

That run was an indication of the horse's love for the track, as he finished a close third, two and a half lengths behind David Pipe's Tullyesker Hill in a three-mile handicap hurdle.
“He had such a good run in last year’s Welsh National that it has to be our target again this year,” said Williams after that run.
“I hope we can get there, he had to have a couple of runs to get to that stage last season.”
One In A Milan is sure to be popular with punters this weekend, his previous Chepstow form and the fact he was a runner in last year's Grand National at Aintree an indication of his staying power.
One In A Milan isn't Williams' only entry for the big race. With the final field yet to be decided, gelding Copper Birch remains a contender. But with a mixed record, odds of 66/1 are probably reflective of his chances.
Shotgun Paddy remains the favourite for this year's race despite being at the head of the handicap. Emma Lavelle's charge has led the ante-post market for a while and is now just an 8/1 shot to come home ahead of the rest.
